Services

All the well designed studies done to date have proven the safety of homebirth for low– to moderate-risk women attended by a trained midwife.  The midwife’s job is to recognize normal so completely that when the abnormal presents, we can refer our clients out to appropriate medical professionals for their further care or transfer to the hospital for appropriate intervention.

Giving birth at home has many advantages in addition to the safety for mother and baby:

Women really enjoy being in the water during their labor.  The birth tub has been called “the midwife’s epidural”.  Interested clients can borrow one of my two inflatable La Bassine tubs, and included will be a  tub liner, a new hose, a fishnet, thermometer, pump, and we will drain the pool for you as well as helping you maintain the temperature during birth.

Couples who have never had a homebirth or a natural birth before are required to take an independent (not hospital) childbirth class.  I currently offer these classes for my clients, for an additional fee.

I occasionally offer doula or monitrice services for hospital birthing women.  HBAC or VBAC is an option for carefully selected women in Georgia.

your own shower and bed and food; increased comfort; freedom to move about and walk; everyone there is an invited guest and is chosen for their love for the family and their faith in the mother and her ability to birth. Your other children can be as involved as they and you desire!

While homebirth is not covered by insurance in the state of Georgia, many families feel that the out of pocket expenses are more than worth it.  Think to yourself — what is an intact perineum worth?  An uncut uterus?  Having your family present as participants, not visitors?  The freedom to videotape and photograph your once-in-a-lifetime event?  I can accept many types of payments and can help you find ways to afford the birth you desire. If you live in South Carolina, I am able to give you a statement that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Morning Glory is a full-service midwifery practice meaning we provide full prenatal care, care during labor and birth, newborn exam, and care during the first six weeks postpartum.

When you contact me, we will arrange an initial consultation.  This is to decide if we want to work together, and if you are low-risk and a good candidate for homebirth.  There is no fee for this consultation regardless of whether we decide to work together or not.  Both partners must be present for this consultation.  Scheduling is flexible.
